Flowers

The flowers to me represent joy. And in fact I often sign them as Joy. I originally started painting the flowers as a reaction to the idea that flower paintings are a secondary artform relegated to the world of women. Instead I chose to show flowers! I like the sensual lines and beautiful colors that flowers let me express. Flowers are not delicate, they are pretty but strong and powerful. They are aggressively pretty.
